Chopped hazelnuts
Description
Chopped hazelnuts have a pleasant, sweet-nutty flavor and a crunchy texture, with a light beige interior surrounded by a warmer, brown skin. They are rich in monounsaturated fats, protein, fiber, vitamin E, B vitamins, and minerals such as magnesium, copper, and manganese, as well as antioxidants, which support heart health, help lower cholesterol levels, counteract inflammation, and increase feelings of fullness. In the kitchen, they are suitable for baking, chocolate, and pralines, as well as for salads, muesli, pesto sauces, or as a crunchy topping for yogurt and savory dishes. Store them in an airtight container away from light and moisture; at room temperature, they will stay fresh for only a short time, in the refrigerator for about 2–3 months, and in the freezer for 6–12 months. Before use, they can be gently toasted to enhance their aroma.
