Unsalted, shelled pistachios
Description
Unsalted, shelled pistachios have a delicate, slightly sweet and nutty flavor with a creamy, soft texture and a characteristic green interior surrounded by a thin, light beige skin. They are rich in healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, plant protein, fiber, as well as vitamins (especially E and B6) and minerals such as copper, manganese, phosphorus, and potassium; they also contain antioxidants. Regular, moderate consumption of pistachios may support heart health, positively influence lipid profiles, help with weight management, and support cognitive functions. In the kitchen, pistachios are suitable for snacks, salads, desserts, baking, and confectionery; they work great as a topping, an ingredient in pesto, creams, ice creams, or baklava. Store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry, and dark place; in the fridge or freezer, they will retain their freshness and aroma much longer, avoiding moisture and strong odors.
