Vodka
Description
Vodka is a colorless, transparent distillate with a neutral, clean aroma and a distinct alcoholic warmth in taste; it most commonly appears at a concentration of about 35–40% alcohol by volume. Nutritionally, it mainly provides calories from alcohol (about 60–70 kcal in 30 ml), and it does not contain significant amounts of protein, fat, or vitamins and minerals. With moderate consumption, some researchers indicate a short-term feeling of relaxation and potential, minor cardiometabolic benefits in selected individuals, but excessive consumption poses serious health risks. In the kitchen, vodka works well as an ingredient in marinades, sauces (e.g., creamy pasta sauce), deglazing, desserts, and flambéing, as well as a base for cocktails; its neutral profile does not dominate the dish and helps to release the aromas of the ingredients. Store tightly closed in a cool, dark place; it does not lose its usability quickly, but once opened, it may gradually lose its aroma, so it is advisable to use it within a reasonable time.
