Canned pineapple (sliced)
Description
Canned pineapple (sliced) has a sweet-tart, tropical flavor and a juicy golden color; the pieces are soft, uniform, and submerged in juice or syrup, making them easy to add to dishes. The product provides vitamin C, manganese, fiber, and small amounts of B vitamins, as well as the enzyme bromelain, which supports protein digestion and has anti-inflammatory properties, although some nutrients may be slightly reduced due to processing and the sugar syrup. Sliced canned pineapple works well in desserts, fruit salads, smoothies, salsas, on pizza, in marinades, and in upside-down cakes. It should be stored in a cool, dry place before opening, and after opening, transfer it to an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator in the syrup for 3–5 days; for lower sugar content, the pieces can be rinsed with water before use, and for longer storage, freezing is suitable, although the texture may change.
