Gray Renet apples
Description
Gray Reneta apples are a variety with firm, dense flesh, characterized by a green-yellow skin with russeting and an intense, slightly tart, aromatic flavor with nutty notes. They are medium-sized, resistant to breaking down during cooking, and very aromatic, making them recognizable in the kitchen. Nutritionally, they provide dietary fiber, vitamin C, potassium, as well as polyphenols and antioxidants that support digestion, reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, and positively affect gut microbiota. In the kitchen, Gray Reneta apples are excellent for baking (apple pie, tarts), making purees, jams, compotes, stewing with meat, and in salads served with cheeses. They are best stored in a cool, dark place with high humidity (cellar, refrigerator drawer), separately from fruits that emit ethylene, in a single layer and without damage, allowing for several weeks, and sometimes months, of long storage.
