Thick natural yogurt (Greek style)

🌱 Vegetarian

Description

Natural thick yogurt (Greek type) has a creamy, almost velvety consistency, an intensely white color, and a fresh, mildly sour taste with a distinct dairy note. Thanks to the straining process, it is thicker than regular yogurt, which gives it a fuller texture and greater ability to blend with other ingredients. Nutritionally, it stands out for its high protein content, being a good source of calcium and B vitamins, and it often contains live probiotic cultures that support gut microbiota; full-fat versions provide more energy and fat-soluble vitamins, while low-fat versions have fewer calories. It is typically used for dressings, dips, sauces, and marinades, as a base for smoothies, desserts, or as a substitute for mayonnaise and cream in baking and salads. Store in the refrigerator at 2–6°C, tightly closed, use a clean spoon, and consume within a few days after opening; freezing alters the texture, so it is not recommended.
