Shrimp (peeled, raw)
Description
Peeled, raw shrimp have a delicate, slightly sweet and briny flavor, along with a firm, translucent texture that turns pink and firm after cooking. Their subtle aroma pairs well with intense additions, and due to their quick preparation time, they are a convenient ingredient for frying, grilling, stewing, salads, pasta, soups, and ceviche. As a source of lean protein, shrimp provide low calories, unsaturated omega-3 fatty acids, selenium, iodine, and vitamin B12, which support the cardiovascular system and thyroid metabolism, although individuals allergic to shellfish should avoid them. Store them chilled in the refrigerator for 1–2 days or freeze in an airtight container for longer storage; thaw in the refrigerator and use immediately, do not refreeze.
