Limoncello (optional)

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Limoncello (optional) is a light yellow, clear liqueur with an intense, sweet-and-sour aroma of lemon zest and a distinct alcoholic note. The taste is fresh, citrusy, and sweet with a slightly bitter aftertaste from the essential oils in the peel, which gives dishes a bold, refreshing character. Nutritionally, limoncello is an alcoholic beverage with a high sugar and calorie content and virtually zero protein or fiber; trace amounts of antioxidants and vitamin C come from lemons, but they do not compensate for the effects of alcohol and sugar on the body. In the kitchen, limoncello pairs perfectly with desserts, creams, sorbets, sauces for fish and poultry, cocktails, and as an addition to marinades or glazes. As an optional ingredient, it adds freshness and aroma to dishes, the intensity of which can be easily controlled. It should be stored in a tightly sealed bottle, preferably in the refrigerator or freezer, where it is served chilled; homemade liqueurs, due to their high alcohol content, maintain quality for several months to a year.
