Almond milk
Description
Almond milk has a delicate, slightly nutty flavor and a creamy, light cream color, usually a thinner consistency than cow's milk. Its aroma is subtle, so it does not dominate dishes, and "barista" versions tend to be thicker and more stable for frothing. Nutritionally, almond milk is low in calories and rich in monounsaturated fats, vitamin E, and antioxidants; it is often fortified with calcium, vitamin D, and B12, making it a good choice for those on a plant-based diet and with lactose intolerance. It is important to note that it naturally contains little protein and is an allergen for those allergic to nuts. In the kitchen, it works well in coffee, smoothies, oatmeal, desserts, cream soups, sauces, and baking; it is advisable to choose barista versions for frothing. Once opened, store in the refrigerator, shake vigorously before use, and consume within about 5–7 days, while homemade milk should be used within 2–3 days; unopened cartons should be kept in a cool, dry place.
