Sausages
Description
Sausages are short, cylindrical sausages with a smooth, light pink or beige surface, soft, juicy texture, and a mild, slightly smoked, salty flavor that pairs well with many accompaniments. Usually made from pork, poultry, or a mixture, they provide easily digestible protein as well as B vitamins, iron, and zinc, but they can contain a significant amount of saturated fat and salt, so it's worth choosing leaner or poultry versions and consuming them in moderation as part of a balanced diet. In the kitchen, sausages are great in hot dogs, with egg breakfasts, in soups, casseroles, or grilled, and they are also popular as a quick snack for children. They should be stored in the refrigerator at a temperature below 4°C, in their original packaging until the expiration date, and after opening, tightly wrapped and consumed within 2–3 days; they can also be frozen (preferably for 1–2 months), and should be thoroughly heated before serving, as they are often pre-cooked.
