Pink Himalayan salt
Description
Pink Himalayan salt is a finely to coarsely grained crystal with a delicate, mild flavor similar to sea salt and a characteristic pink color resulting from small traces of iron ions and other microelements. Nutritionally, it mainly consists of sodium chloride and contains trace amounts of minerals such as potassium, magnesium, and calcium, which give it its color and slightly different flavor profile; however, its calorie content and sodium levels are similar to regular salt, so using it in moderation remains important for health. In the kitchen, Himalayan salt works well as a finishing salt, for seasoning meats, fish, vegetables, and salads, as well as for curing, marinades, and as a decorative element. Blocks and plates of Himalayan salt are used for grilling, serving, and salting dishes directly at the table. It should be stored in an airtight container, in a dry and cool place, away from moisture, to avoid clumping and loss of aroma.
