Wheat tortilla
Description
Wheat tortilla is a thin, flexible flatbread with a light beige color and a smooth surface, featuring a mild, slightly nutty flavor with a delicate hint of salt that easily absorbs the aromas of fillings. Its soft texture allows for folding and rolling without cracking, and when heated, it gains a pleasant elasticity and a lightly browned crust. Nutritionally, the tortilla primarily provides carbohydrates as an energy source, a moderate amount of protein, and a small amount of fat; whole grain versions contain more fiber, B vitamins, and minerals such as iron. In the kitchen, it serves as a base for wraps, burritos, quesadillas, tacos, or light pizzas and sandwiches, pairing well with vegetables, meat, fish, and sauces. It should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator after opening, and it can be frozen for longer storage, thawing and briefly heating it in a pan or microwave.
