Description

Bananas are a fruit with a creamy, soft flesh and a sweet, vanilla-honey flavor, usually elongated in shape and with a yellow skin that darkens over time. Their texture and aroma vary depending on ripeness: green ones are firmer and less sweet, while ripe ones are soft and intensely sweet. Nutritionally, bananas provide quickly digestible carbohydrates, fiber, potassium, vitamin B6, and vitamin C, supporting energy, heart function, blood pressure, and digestion; unripe specimens also contain resistant starch beneficial for the intestines. Typical uses include eating raw, smoothies, baking (banana bread, muffins), purees and desserts, as well as additions to cereals, pancakes, or Asian dishes. Store bananas at room temperature to ripen; to slow down the process, place them in the refrigerator — the skin will darken, but the flesh will remain fresh. For freezing, slice and store in an airtight container.
