Banana (mashed)
Description
Mashed banana has a creamy, smooth texture and a light yellow color, with a characteristic sweet aroma and flavor that depends on the ripeness — more ripe bananas are more intense and sweeter, while less ripe ones retain a slightly tart aftertaste. As an ingredient, it visually adds moisture and softness to dishes, and its natural sweetness reduces the need for additional sugar. Bananas primarily provide carbohydrates and fiber, are rich in potassium, vitamin B6, and vitamin C, with low fat content, which supports energy, muscle function, and the immune system. Mashed bananas are great for baking, pancakes, smoothies, mousses, baby food, and as a substitute for fat or eggs in vegan recipes. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours or freeze in portions for longer; adding lemon juice will slow down browning.
