Fresh blueberries
Description
Fresh blueberries are small, round berries with an intense, sweet-tart flavor and a smooth skin in shades of blue-purple with a characteristic light bloom. They are juicy, delicate in texture, and pleasantly aromatic, making them a versatile addition to both sweet and savory dishes. Nutritionally, blueberries are low in calories, rich in fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, and manganese, and are a very good source of antioxidants, especially anthocyanins, which support heart health, cognitive functions, and have anti-inflammatory properties. In the kitchen, blueberries work wonderfully in muesli, smoothies, desserts, baked goods, sauces for meats, and salads, as well as a fresh addition to cheeses. It is recommended to store them unwashed in the refrigerator in a breathable container lined with paper towels and consume them within 4–7 days. For longer storage, it is best to freeze them, previously spread out on a tray to prevent them from sticking together during freezing.
