Puff pastry
Description
Puff pastry is a light, multi-layered dough with a distinct buttery aroma and a crispy, golden crust, whose delicate layers pleasantly crumble while eating. Its flavor is rich and buttery, and its decorative appearance is due to the distinct layers formed by lamination. Nutritionally, puff pastry is a source of energy mainly from fats and carbohydrates, providing small amounts of protein and micronutrients from the butter used; due to its high caloric content, it is advisable to consume it in moderation and pair it with vegetables or lean protein. It works well in both savory and sweet dishes: great for tarts, vol-au-vent, pastries, croissants, mille-feuille, or party snacks. It can be stored in the refrigerator for a few days in an airtight container or frozen for several months; thaw slowly in the refrigerator and bake preferably immediately after thawing.
