Dark beer
Description
Dark beer has a deep, brown-black color with a creamy, light brown foam and an aroma of roasted malts. The taste is dominated by notes of caramel, chocolate, coffee, and a slight bitterness from hops, with a full, slightly oily texture that balances the malty-roasted tones well. Nutritionally, it provides calories mainly from carbohydrates and alcohol, as well as small amounts of protein, B vitamins, and minerals such as potassium and magnesium from the malt and yeast. The antioxidants found in malts may offer cardiovascular benefits when consumed in moderation; however, due to the alcohol content, moderation is advised. Dark beer is excellent for braising meat, marinades, reduced sauces, deglazing, baking chocolate cakes, and as an addition to stews, enhancing flavor and texture. It should be stored in a cool, dark place, preferably upright; once opened, keep it in the refrigerator and consume within 24–48 hours for freshness.
