Tomato passata

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Tomato passata is a smooth, homogeneous puree made from strained ripe tomatoes with an intense, fresh aroma and a sweet-sour taste, as well as a clear, bright red color, free from seeds and skins. It has a velvety texture that easily combines with other ingredients, enhancing the natural tomato flavor of dishes. As a low-calorie product, it provides vitamins C and A, potassium, fiber, and lycopene—a powerful antioxidant beneficial for heart health and reducing the risk of certain cancers; lycopene becomes more bioavailable when heated and in the presence of fat. Passata is perfect as a base for pasta sauces, soups, stews, pizza, as well as braised dishes and marinades. Once opened, store in the refrigerator and use within 3–5 days, or portion and freeze for up to about 3 months; unopened jars should be kept in a dry, cool place.
