Granulated sugar
Description
Granulated sugar is a white, transparent table sugar with a characteristic sweet and neutral flavor profile and a fine to medium crystalline structure that easily dissolves in both cold and hot liquids. Its pure taste does not overpower dishes, and its crystalline form is suitable for both decoration and clarification. Nutritionally, sugar is a calorie-dense source of simple carbohydrates—about 400 kcal per 100 g—providing quickly absorbable energy, which can be useful in sudden episodes of low glucose levels under medical supervision. However, excessive consumption is associated with the risk of overweight and metabolic diseases, so it should be used in moderation. In the kitchen, granulated sugar is effective for sweetening beverages, baking, making syrups, jams, caramelizing, and desserts. It should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from moisture and strong odors to prevent clumping and absorption of aromas.
