Sprig of fresh mint
Description
A sprig of fresh mint has bright green, slightly serrated leaves with a glossy surface and an intense, cooling menthol aroma; the taste is refreshingly sweet and spicy with a distinct note of freshness that enhances both sweet and savory dishes. It is perfect for infusions and cocktails, desserts, salads, yogurts, and sauces, as well as for marinades, lamb dishes, or cold soups, often paired with lemon, cucumber, or chocolate as a fresh accent. Mint is low in calories and provides vitamins (especially A and C), minerals, as well as antioxidants and essential oils (menthol) that aid digestion, alleviate nausea, refresh breath, and have anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Store the sprigs wrapped in a damp paper towel in a sealed bag in the refrigerator or place them in a glass of water like a bouquet, changing the water every 1–2 days; for longer storage, freeze the leaves in ice cubes with water or oil.
