Edible gold dust
Description
Edible gold dust is a fine, metallic powder with an intense, shiny golden sheen that has no distinct taste or smell, adding only a visual effect and elegance to dishes. As a food product made from pure, food-grade gold (most commonly 22–24 karats), it provides virtually no calories, vitamins, or nutrients; it is chemically inert and considered safe in small amounts, although only certified products should be purchased and caution should be exercised with metal allergies. In the kitchen, edible gold dust is used as a finishing touch for desserts, chocolates, liqueurs, and cocktails, as well as for decorating exquisite dishes and baked goods, where it harmonizes with creamy, chocolatey, and subtly salty flavors, highlighting luxurious compositions. It should be stored in a dry, tightly sealed container, away from moisture and light, at room temperature; use sparingly and only products labeled as edible.
