Barley groats
Description
Pearl barley is a whole, rounded grain with a pearl-beige color and a slightly glossy sheen, characterized by a pleasantly nutty flavor and a firm, slightly chewy texture that holds its shape well after cooking. It is rich in dietary fiber, especially beta-glucans, provides complex carbohydrates, a moderate amount of plant protein, as well as B vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, iron, and zinc, which support digestion, a feeling of fullness, cholesterol regulation, and blood sugar stabilization. It works perfectly as a base for thick soups, barley risotto, salads, fillings, and side dishes for meats or vegetables. Store pearl barley in a dry, cool, and dark place in an airtight container, and for longer storage, it is advisable to keep it in the refrigerator or freezer to avoid moisture and pests.
