Savoiardi biscuits (long)
Description
Savoiardi (ladyfingers) are light, fluffy cookies with a slightly crunchy exterior and a sweet, vanilla aroma. They have an elongated shape, a light golden color, and a characteristic porous structure that absorbs liquids well. The main ingredients are eggs, flour, and sugar, which results in a relatively low fat content, a moderate amount of protein, and a significant amount of simple carbohydrates providing quick energy; they also contain gluten and eggs, so they are not suitable for individuals with allergies or celiac disease. Savoiardi are perfect for desserts that require soaking, such as tiramisu, trifle, or charlotte; they can also be served with coffee, ice cream, creams, or ground as a base for cakes. Store in an airtight container in a dry and cool place; once soaked, they should be consumed immediately, and longer storage is possible in the freezer.
