Wonton noodles
Description
Wonton noodles are thin, square or round sheets of dough made from wheat flour and often eggs, with a light, creamy color and a delicately elastic, smooth texture; when cooked, they become slightly transparent and soft, with a subtle and neutral flavor that pairs well with fillings. Nutritionally, they are mainly carbohydrates providing energy, with a moderate protein content especially when eggs are added, low fat, and small amounts of B vitamins; in a healthy diet, it is important to control portions and preparation methods, as baking or steaming is healthier than deep frying. In practice, wonton sheets are used to prepare dumplings for soups, fried appetizers, dim sum, and light stuffed recipes with meat, seafood, or vegetables, perfectly absorbing the aromas of the additions. To maintain freshness, store them in the refrigerator tightly wrapped, and for longer storage, freeze them layered with parchment paper in between; before use, briefly thaw to avoid separation.
