French fries
Description
Fries are thin strips of potato with a golden-brown, crispy skin and a soft, creamy interior; they taste salty and slightly earthy, often enhanced with spicy seasonings or herbs. As a potato product, they mainly provide quick-calorie carbohydrates, certain amounts of fiber, vitamin C, B vitamins, and potassium, but their nutritional profile depends on the preparation method — fried ones are richer in fat and salt, while baked or air-fried versions are a healthier option. Fries are a classic side dish for fast food, burgers, steaks, fish, and wraps, and they pair well with sauces, salads, or as a base for loaded fries. They are best enjoyed fresh; once prepared, they should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days and reheated in the oven or air fryer to restore their crispiness. Raw potatoes for home cutting should be kept in a cool, dark, and dry place, not in the refrigerator.
