Mandarins (peeled, segments)
Description
Peeled mandarin segments have a vibrant orange color, a delicate, shiny membrane, and a juicy texture; the taste is sweet and sour, aromatic, and easily combines with other ingredients. The segments are convenient to use raw, perfect for fruit and green salads, desserts, yogurts, muesli, in sauces for fish and poultry dishes, as well as in cakes and drinks, and also serve as decoration and an addition to marinades or jams. Mandarins are low in calories, rich in vitamin C, fiber, folic acid, potassium, and antioxidants that support immunity, skin health, and the circulatory system. Peeled segments are best stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consumed within 2–3 days; they can also be quickly frozen on a tray and then stored in a bag for use in smoothies.
