Salad mix
Description
Salad mix is a collection of various leafy varieties with diverse textures and colors — from delicate, light green leaves of lamb's lettuce and butter lettuce to darker, slightly curly or speckled leaves of arugula, radicchio, or romaine lettuce. The flavor can be fresh and refreshing, often with a hint of sweetness, sometimes with a more pronounced, peppery, or slightly bitter finish depending on the components. Nutritionally, salad mix is low in calories, rich in water, fiber, vitamins A, C, and K, as well as folic acid, and minerals such as potassium and iron; it also contains antioxidants that support the immune system, heart health, and bone health. It works perfectly as a base for salads, an addition to sandwiches, wraps, and burgers, a complement to soups, grain salads, and quick hot dishes. To maintain freshness, store the mix in the refrigerator at 1–4°C, preferably dried, in an airtight container lined with a paper towel, and wash just before serving; use within a few days of opening.
