Fresh mint
Description
Fresh mint has aromatic green leaves with wavy edges and a fine, velvety coating, providing a distinct, cooling flavor with hints of menthol and fresh sweetness. It is low in calories and rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as minerals such as iron and manganese; it also contains essential oils and antioxidants that aid digestion, soothe stomach ailments, refresh breath, and have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. In the kitchen, mint pairs well with drinks (teas, lemonades, cocktails like mojito), salads, yogurt sauces, fruit desserts, lamb and poultry dishes, as well as soups and marinades, and can also be used as a fresh garnish. To preserve its aroma, store the leaves in the refrigerator wrapped in a damp towel or in a glass of water loosely covered with plastic wrap; it can also be frozen in ice cubes with water or oil, keeping in mind that drying weakens the scent.
