Grated Parmesan
Description
Grated Parmesan is finely grated, light yellow cheese with a grainy, slightly crystalline texture and an intense, tangy-nutty flavor with distinct umami notes and saltiness; its aroma is deep and mature, and its appearance is loose, easily adding texture to dishes. It pairs wonderfully as a finishing touch for pasta, risotto, soups, and salads, perfectly enhancing sauces, casseroles, and breading, and works well in spice blends, adding depth of flavor. Grated Parmesan provides protein, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin A, and B12, supporting bone health and maintaining muscle mass, but it is also relatively high in salt and saturated fats, so it should be used in moderation. It should be stored in the refrigerator tightly wrapped in parchment and foil or in a closed container to prevent it from drying out and absorbing odors; grated Parmesan can also be frozen for a short time, although it may slightly change in texture.
