Stilton cheese
Description
Stilton cheese is a British blue cheese with a creamy-crumbling texture and distinct blue-green veins. It has an intense, spicy-nutty flavor with a slightly salty note and a creamy finish; the rind is delicate, and the interior is prone to crumbling and spreading. From a nutritional standpoint, Stilton provides protein, calcium, vitamins A and B12, and fats that are a source of energy, and moderate consumption may support bone health; however, it is worth noting its high fat and sodium content. In the kitchen, Stilton works well on a cheese board, in salads with pear and nuts, crumbled into sauces, soups, or meat fillings, and as a seasoning for desserts with port wine. Store it in the refrigerator wrapped in parchment paper and loosely in foil, at a temperature of about 4°C, allow it to reach room temperature before serving, and avoid contact with strongly scented products.
