Description
Sour cream 18% has a smooth, creamy texture and a light cream color, with a slightly tangy, mild flavor that balances its richness. With a moderate fat content, it is creamier than yogurt but lighter than heavy cream. It contains calories mainly from saturated fat, a bit of protein, calcium, and fat-soluble vitamins, primarily vitamin A; fermented products usually also provide cultures of lactic acid bacteria. In moderate amounts, sour cream contributes to satiety and helps absorb fat-soluble vitamins, but it should be consumed in moderation due to its calorie content. In the kitchen, it pairs well with sauces, dips, cream soups, salads, desserts, and baked dishes, perfectly mellowing spicy flavors and thickening dishes.
