Sea salt (flakes)
Description
Sea salt flakes are delicate, irregular crystals with a light, pearlescent hue and a light, crunchy texture. The flavor is clean, distinct, and less "metallic" than table salt, with subtle marine notes; the flakes melt quickly on the tongue, adding a pleasant texture and enhancing the aromas of dishes. It works best as a finishing salt for grilled dishes, roasted vegetables, fish, salads, bread, and sweet-salty desserts, where it highlights flavor contrasts. Nutritionally, it is mainly sodium chloride with a small amount of trace elements; it does not provide calories or protein value, so moderate use within a balanced diet is beneficial to maintain electrolyte balance. Store in a sealed, dry container, away from moisture and direct light, preferably in glass or ceramic, to preserve the flakiness of the salt.
