Tabasco sauce
Description
Tabasco sauce is a clear, thin sauce with an intensely red color, made from Tabasco peppers, vinegar, and salt. It has a distinct spicy-sour flavor profile: an immediate sensation of heat, balanced by the fresh acidity of vinegar and a gentle saltiness, which enhances dishes without overpowering their aroma. Nutritionally, it is low in calories and almost fat-free, with minimal carbohydrates; it contains trace amounts of vitamins and minerals as well as capsaicin, which may support metabolism and circulation and has antibacterial properties. Due to the salt and vinegar, it should be used in moderation. Tabasco sauce pairs perfectly with eggs, soups, sauces, seafood, meats, tacos, and Bloody Mary cocktails, as well as marinades and dressings. An unopened bottle should be stored in a cool, dark place; once opened, it is best kept in the refrigerator to maintain its flavor and color.
