Dried apricots
Description
Dried apricots have a sweet-tart, concentrated flavor with a slight caramel note and a soft, chewy texture; their color ranges from vibrant orange to dark brown, and the surface can be wrinkled. They are rich in fiber, potassium, beta-carotene (provitamin A), iron, and antioxidants, which support digestion, eye health, electrolyte balance, and the body's anti-inflammatory actions, although they also provide concentrated calories and natural sugars. In the kitchen, dried apricots pair well with muesli, salads, one-pot dishes, sweet baked goods, jams, meat fillings, and desserts, adding sweetness and moisture. Store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry, and dark place; for longer freshness, keep them in the refrigerator or freezer. It is advisable to choose varieties without added sugar and to consciously check for the presence of sulfites.
