Description
Mascarpone cheese is an Italian, creamy cheese with a velvety, thick consistency and a delicate, slightly sweet flavor with a hint of cream. It has a light, creamy-white color and melts in the mouth, adding richness and smoothness to dishes. It is primarily made from cream, which gives it a high fat content, good amounts of energy, saturated fats, as well as certain amounts of protein, calcium, and vitamin A; it should be consumed in moderation as a source of energy and flavor. Mascarpone is extremely versatile: perfect for tiramisu, cheesecakes, creams, and glazes, it enhances pasta sauces, cream soups, and is suitable as a base for dips and spreads. Store in the refrigerator at a temperature of 2–8°C in a tightly sealed container, and use within a few days after opening; freezing is not recommended due to changes in texture, although it is possible with further processing.
