Burger buns
Description
Burger buns are soft, fluffy bread with a slightly sweet, buttery flavor and a golden, often sesame-seeded crust; brioche variants are more buttery and darker, while whole grain ones have a more pronounced texture and grains. Nutritionally, they are dominated by carbohydrates providing a quick source of energy, a moderate amount of protein and fat (higher in buttery versions), and enriched flours supply B vitamins and iron; choosing whole grain gives us more fiber and a longer feeling of fullness. Buns pair wonderfully with meat, plant-based, and fish patties, cheeses, vegetables, and sauces, making them a great base for sliders and breakfast sandwiches. It’s best to store them in a sealed bag at room temperature for 2–3 days, and for longer storage, freeze them; before serving, refresh them in a toaster or oven, avoiding the refrigerator, which dries them out.
