Wheat tortillas
Description
Wheat tortillas are thin, flexible flatbreads with a light beige color, smooth surface, and a subtly wheat aroma; the taste is neutral, slightly sweet, making them an excellent base for both spicy and mild fillings. The white flour version primarily provides carbohydrates and a certain amount of protein, while whole grain tortillas contain more fiber, B vitamins, and minerals, supporting satiety and digestion. In the kitchen, they are used for wraps, burritos, quesadillas, tacos, and as a substitute for bread or flatbread in sandwiches and snacks; they pair well with meat, vegetables, cheeses, and sauces. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place; once opened, consume within a few days or refrigerate, and for longer storage, freeze, thawing and reheating in a pan or microwave with a damp cloth.
