Whole wheat tortillas
Description
Whole grain wheat tortillas have a slightly nutty, mildly grainy flavor and a darker, slightly saturated color than tortillas made from white flour; their texture is denser and more elastic, yet still flexible when heated. Thanks to the whole grain content, they provide more fiber, protein, B vitamins, and minerals (iron, magnesium) than refined versions, supporting feelings of fullness, stabilizing blood sugar, and promoting digestive and cardiovascular health as part of a balanced diet. They work great as a base for wraps, burritos, quesadillas, tacos, or simple sandwiches, and as a light alternative to bread or pizza crust; they are suitable for baking, grilling, and frying. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for a few days, in the refrigerator for about 1–2 weeks, and for longer periods freeze in individual portions; before serving, heat on a dry skillet, in the oven, or wrapped in a damp towel in the microwave to regain flexibility.
