Coconut flakes (optional)
Description
Coconut flakes (optional) have a delicate, naturally sweet taste of coconut and a creamy, slightly fibrous texture; they come as white or cream-colored fine flakes that add flavor and a subtle crunch to dishes. They are a source of energy due to fats, primarily medium-chain fatty acids (MCT), as well as fiber and small amounts of protein, iron, and manganese. In moderate amounts, they support the feeling of fullness and may positively affect metabolism, but due to their high caloric content, it's best to use them in moderation. In the kitchen, coconut flakes are suitable for baking, muesli, smoothies, desserts, salads, curries, and as a topping or ingredient in breading, and lightly toasting them brings out their aroma. Store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place; for a longer shelf life, keep them in the refrigerator or freezer and avoid moisture and direct light.
