French baguette
Description
A French baguette is a long, narrow bread roll with a golden, crispy crust and a light, porous interior with irregular holes. Its flavor is delicate, slightly sweet, and distinctly wheaty, making it a versatile addition to both everyday dishes and exquisite snacks. Nutritionally, a baguette mainly provides carbohydrates that release energy quickly, a moderate amount of protein, and little fat; 100 g contains about 250–270 kcal, 50 g of carbohydrates, and 8–9 g of protein. It is a source of some B vitamins and minerals, and in reasonable amounts, it can be part of a balanced diet. It works well as a base for sandwiches, an accompaniment to soups, cheeses, and cold cuts, as well as a slice for bruschetta. It is best stored in a paper bag at room temperature for 1–2 days; longer storage requires freezing cut pieces, and refreshing can be achieved by baking in the oven.
