Pita bread (optional, for serving)
Description
Pita bread is a flat, round bread with a soft, sometimes slightly bubbly texture and a delicate, slightly sweet flavor with a hint of bread steam. They usually have a light brown color and an internal pocket when split, making them an appealing addition for serving dishes such as kebabs, falafels, or salads. As an optional serving element, they add convenience and aesthetics to the dish. Nutritional values depend on the type of flour: traditional pita is mainly carbohydrates, with a moderate amount of protein and little fat, while whole grain provides more fiber, B vitamins, and minerals. Choosing whole grain pita supports satiety and gut health, as well as stabilizing blood sugar levels. Store in a sealed bag at room temperature for up to a few days, in the refrigerator for a shorter time (it may become hard), or freeze in portions for up to 3 months; refresh briefly in the oven, toaster, or steamer.
