Non-alcoholic dark beer
Description
Non-alcoholic dark beer has an amber-dark to mahogany color with a creamy foam and an aroma of roasted malt, caramel, bitter chocolate, and coffee; its taste is full, malty with a gently pronounced bitterness and a lower "warming" intensity than alcoholic versions. It usually contains few calories compared to classic dark beer and may provide B vitamins, minerals, and polyphenols with antioxidant properties, although the sugar and calorie content varies between brands, so those on a diet should read the labels. In the kitchen, it works well as a base for sauces, marinades, and stews — enhancing goulashes, dishes with beef, game, and mushrooms, as well as chocolate cakes or yeast bread; it can be used for deglazing pans and as a non-alcoholic substitute for beer in recipes. Store in a cool, dark place; once opened, chill and consume within 24–48 hours for the best aroma.
