Red chili pepper
Description
Red chili pepper has an intense, spicy flavor with a fruity note and a shiny, usually elongated or conical shape; the degree of heat depends on the variety, and the seeds and inner membranes contain the most capsaicin responsible for the burning sensation. It is rich in vitamins C and A, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory compounds; moderate consumption may support metabolism, circulation, and immunity, and capsaicin is also used for local pain relief. In the kitchen, red chili pairs perfectly with Asian, Latin American, and Mediterranean cuisines, enhancing sauces, pastes, marinades, soups, and meat or vegetable dishes; it can be dried, fried, pickled, or used fresh. It is stored in the refrigerator in a container or bag in the vegetable drawer for about a week, longer in the freezer when chopped, and dried or powdered in a cool, dark, and dry place.
