Salmon caviar

Description

Salmon roe consists of shiny, uniform beads ranging in color from orange to deep red, with a distinct marine aroma, a salty and slightly buttery flavor note, and a delicate, popping texture. Its taste is characteristic and elegant, making it an excellent addition or decoration. As a dietitian, I emphasize that roe is rich in protein, polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids (EPA, DHA), vitamins A, D, and B12, as well as minerals such as selenium and iodine, which support heart health, cognitive functions, and the immune system; however, it is advisable to consume it in moderation due to its salt and cholesterol content. In the kitchen, it is used on sandwiches and blinis, in sushi, salads, creamy dips, and as a finishing touch for pasta or egg dishes. Store in the refrigerator in its original, tightly sealed packaging at a temperature of 0–4°C; once opened, it is best consumed within 2–3 days, and freezing is possible but affects the texture.
