Gray Renet apple
Description
Gray Reneta is an old, noble variety of apple with a greenish-yellow skin and a characteristic rusty coating, and a firm, slightly grainy flesh. Its flavor is intensely sour, aromatic, and spicy, which perfectly balances sweet additions, and the aroma remains distinct even after heat treatment. These apples are low in calories, rich in fiber, vitamin C, potassium, and polyphenols with antioxidant properties; pectins support digestion and lower cholesterol levels. In the kitchen, they are excellent for baking (apple pies, tarts), stewing, making purees, cider, jams, and chutneys, as well as complementing salads or serving as accompaniments to meats and cheeses. Store them in a cool (0–4°C), humid, and ventilated place, away from fruits that emit ethylene; healthy fruits can last from a few weeks to several months.
