Dried orange peel

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Dried orange peel consists of thin, wrinkled pieces with an intense, concentrated citrus aroma featuring a distinct, slightly bitter note and a sweet-floral background; the color ranges from light to dark orange. In powder or flake form, it provides the essence of fresh orange without moisture. Nutritionally, it is low in calories, rich in fiber, vitamin C, and flavonoids, and contains essential oils (limonene) with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which may support digestion and immunity. In the kitchen, it is used in bread and desserts, spice blends, marinades, teas and infusions, sauces, tagines, compotes, as well as cocktails and chocolate, where it adds depth and freshness. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry, and dark place, away from moisture; ground orange peel retains its aroma for a shorter time, and with proper storage, it remains useful for about 6–12 months.
