Cumin seeds

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Cumin seeds are small, elongated, brown-yellow seeds with an intense, warm, earthy-nutty aroma and a slightly spicy note. When toasted, they release a deeper, slightly smoky scent, making them a valuable flavor addition. Nutritional components include fiber, iron, manganese, as well as phytochemicals and essential oils; regular, moderate use may support digestion, have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, and contribute to better iron absorption. Cumin is suitable for Indian, Middle Eastern, Mexican, and Mediterranean cuisines, pairing well with meat, vegetables, soups, sauces, marinades, and spice blends; it is recommended to toast and grind fresh for full aroma. Store in an airtight, opaque container in a cool, dry place; whole seeds retain their aroma longer (up to 12–24 months), while ground cumin lasts shorter (a few months).
