Fresh mint
Description
Fresh mint has an intense, cooling aroma with a distinct hint of menthol and bright green, serrated leaves with a delicate, velvety texture. It is low in calories, a source of vitamins A, C, and K, as well as minerals such as iron and manganese, and contains antioxidants; it traditionally aids digestion, alleviates bloating, and refreshes the respiratory tract. In the kitchen, mint pairs well with both sweet and savory dishes: salads, sauces, yogurts, beverages (e.g., mojito, tea), lamb dishes, couscous, and fruits. To maintain freshness, do not wash the leaves before storing, trim the ends of the stems, and keep them in the refrigerator standing in a glass of water under a loose bag or wrapped in a damp paper towel; you can also freeze the leaves in ice cubes with water or oil.
