Plum jam (thick)
Description
Thick plum jam is characterized by an intense, sweet-and-sour flavor with a distinct, slightly smoky note of caramelized fruits, as well as a dark purple to burgundy color and a shiny, dense consistency. It is energetic and rich in simple sugars, while also providing fiber, vitamins (primarily A and C), and minerals such as potassium; it also contains polyphenols and antioxidants beneficial for health. Thanks to the fiber, it supports digestion and bowel function, and the antioxidants boost immunity, but it is advisable to consume it in moderation due to its sugar content. In the kitchen, plum jam pairs perfectly as a spread for bread, an addition to cheeses and pâtés, a filling for cakes, a topping for pancakes, and a base for sauces and glazes for meats (pork, poultry, game). It should be stored in a cool, dark place before opening; once opened, the jar must be tightly sealed, kept in the refrigerator, and used with a clean spoon within a few weeks to avoid mold and loss of aroma.
