Coffee liqueur (e.g. Kahlua)
Description
Coffee liqueur, like Kahlúa, is a sweet, aromatic liqueur with an intense coffee flavor, hints of caramel and vanilla, usually dark brown and slightly viscous. It contains a lot of sugar and alcohol (typically 20–30% ABV), providing calories mainly from sugars and alcohol, and trace compounds from coffee may contribute antioxidants; however, health benefits are limited by the alcohol and sugar content, so consumption should be moderate and is not suitable for children or pregnant women. In the kitchen, coffee liqueur pairs wonderfully with desserts, ice creams, creams, tiramisu, cake sauces, as well as cocktails and coffee, adding depth and sweetness. It should be stored tightly closed in a cool, dark place; once opened, it is best kept capped and used within a year, avoiding storage in direct light and extreme temperatures.
